Varsity Letters’s B.C. Recruits List: There is still plenty of time to make our 2019 list the most comprehensive ever!

NORTH DELTA — Just in case you missed our plea last month, we’re back asking for your help once again.

If you have already submitted to our annual B.C. Recruits List, have no fear and please trust that we have your submission.

If not, please read on and remember, this note is not just intended for student-athletes and their families, but for high school athletic directors and coaches as well. We have been impressed by the number of AD’s who have taken the time to send us all of their high school-to-university/college student athletes. So a special note to AD’s, we really appreciate what you do!

For the 13th straight year it’s time to begin the task of compiling the names and destinations of as many of B.C.’s graduating Class of 2019 as it pertains to their university/college sports destination.

It all started back in the spring of 2007, and that makes this year’s class extra special.

Last year’s Class of 2018 marked the completion of our first Grade 1-12 cycle, and this year’s class of largely 2001-born student-athletes begins the next.

With all of that in mind, I am making my annual pitch to the masses.

If you are, or you know of, a graduating Grade 12 student-athlete in B.C., send us name, height, high school, post-secondary destination, and the sport (and position) they play. All are important, even the height!

High school athletic directors are encouraged to submit lists by school as are community sports organizations.

Our Class of 2019 student-athletes can be headed to U Sports, CCAA, CJEP, NCAA, NAIA, a U.S. junior college, or like we said, any other post-secondary institution in the world. But they must be going there to play sports in addition to continuing their studies.

And we welcome every sport!

Our goal? Last year we set an all-time high at 986 names. In 2019, we want to hit the 1,000 mark!

All details can be sent to howardtsumura@gmail.com and our list will appear in early-to-mid July.

Remember, our goal is to publish the names of every Grade 12 boy or girl in B.C. who will be continuing their athletic careers in the fall at the post-secondary level.

Thanks, as always, for your support, help and belief in the potential of our B.C. high school and university sports community.
