Help! Tsumura Basketball Invitational looking for one more girls team for Dec. 14-17 tournament at Langley Events Centre!

LANGLEY TOWNSHIP — Hello B.C. senior girls basketball head coaches.

It’s Howard Tsumura here, and I am writing to you with news that we are looking to fill an opening — due to a very late cancellation — in one of our brackets at next month’s 2022 Tsumura Basketball Invitational (Dec. 14-17) at the Langley Events Centre.

To be clear, the opening is not in our largest 16-team draw, but in one of our other two eight-team brackets.

To respectfully describe the two brackets, one features a higher level of play than the other, yet the thing to remember here is that each was created to provide the most competitive games possible.

And thus it’s not so much that you need to be the most excellent team in the province, but a team which can be considered anywhere along the spectrum from very good towards trending in the direction of promising and competitive.

We will see which team not only fits best, but place that team in the most appropriate bracket, making adjustments to the draw as we see fit.

If we happen to get a number of teams applying at this late date, we simply ask that you respect our final decision.

With all of that said, we will accept email submissions here at howardtsumura@gmail.com from the head coach of any interested B.C. senior varsity girls high school team.

We ask that when you send us your request to be considered, and let us know a little about your team.

We’d like to hear from you by noon on Friday.

Again, this call is open to B.C. senior girls basketball teams who would like to be considered for a spot in one of our eight-team draws for TBI 2022 set to run Dec. 14-17 at the Langley Events Centre.

The successful team will play one game per day through its eight-team draw Wednesday through Friday. The tournament committee will then re-seed the two eight-team draws and put together a slate of unique match-ups for the final day of play on the Saturday.

Thank you for considering us

Howard Tsumura
