Varsity Letters’ 15th annual B.C. Recruits list! Send us your name if you’re a university-bound student-athlete in our B.C. grad Class of 2020!

Hello B.C high school student-athletes, as well as your parents, and the entire community of coaches, athletic directors and administrators around our great province.

It’s time to begin compiling the 14th annual Varsity Letters’ B.C. Recruits List, a project which had its genesis back in the spring of 2006 when I worked at The Province newspaper.

Each year since, we have attempted to publish the names of the many graduating B.C. high school Grade 12 student-athletes who are set to continue their athletics careers at the post-secondary level. Last season, we set a new record with over 1,000 names!

Through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have watched in awe as our Class of 2021 athletes have done what they need to do in order to keep their dreams of university athletics alive, often times taking virtual campus tours as a way of finalizing decisions they have spent the majority of their lives working to attain.

We commend you all, and we hope that the 2020 Varsity Letters’ Recruits List will show just how strong our community of student-athletes is, with of course, the incredible support of their families and coaches.

To that end, if you are, or you know of someone who is headed towards a post-secondary sports career, we’d like to hear from you.

Here is the information we MUST have: Name, height, B.C. high school you attend, post-secondary institution you will be attending, sport you play, position you play. We need all of them.

The post-secondary destination you have chosen for yourself can be in U Sports, the NCAA, the NAIA, the CCAA, CEGEP, or the U.S. junior college system.

Please send your information to howardtsumura@gmail.com

We expect to be publishing the lists in early July, but we’d love to hear from you as soon as you have any information.

Cheers and stay safe!
