South Kam Titans go to overtime to to edge GW Graham Grizzlies for B.C. senior girls AA hoops title!

This is a brief re-cap of the championship action today at the Langley Events Centre.

Look for full reports on all three B.C. high school championships later this evening.

LANGLEY — Kendra McDonald followed a miss down low by teammate Maddy Gobeil with a lay-in 6.2 seconds from the end of regulation to force overtime as the South Kamloops Titans topped Chilliwack’s GW Graham Grizzlies 73-67 to win over B.C. senior girls AA basketball championship at the Langley Events Centre.

Gobeil led the winners with 27 points and Lauren Walkley added 20.

Grizzlies’ forward Deanna Tuchscherer scored a game-high 32 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in the loss..

It was South Kamloops’ first B.C. title since winning the second of two straight AAA title in 2013, the first year the girls provincial tourney was held at the LEC.

*In the B.C. junior girls final, Fania Taylor scored 19 points and was selected tournament MVP as the hometown Walnut Grove Gators beat Surrey’s Fraser Heights Firehawks 61-54.
