LANGLEY — Know any basketball players excelling both on and off the court? Then the Fraser Valley Bandits want to hear from you.
With basketball season now underway, the Bandits are launching the BC Player of the Week to recognize student-athletes who are excelling as role models in the classroom, in the community and on the court. It is open for boys and girls for middle school, junior and senior teams.
The selection criteria are designed to acknowledge middle and secondary school athletes who illustrate a dedication in the classroom, on the court, and in their respective communities.
“With middle and secondary school basketball seasons upon us, the Fraser Valley Bandits are thrilled to launch the BC Player of the Week initiative as our means of celebrating the accomplishments of local student-athletes who are leading by example on and off the court through community service, dedication and sportsmanship,” said Bandits president Dylan Kular. “We can’t wait to honour the leadership, academic success and exciting performances of boys’ and girls’ student-athletes throughout the upcoming basketball season.”
The nominations will be collected online and each week (click here), one male and one female winner will be randomly picked from the entries and the winners will receive a prize pack courtesy of the Bandits. The selected athletes will be highlighted on the Bandits social media channels and recipients may only win once.
Winners will be chosen throughout the basketball season and right up until the provincial basketball championships in late February.
