LANGLEY — B.C. high school football’s first month of play is in the books.
Welcome to the October, the month ahead which defines the contenders for the Subway Bowl B.C. championships.
This week, Varsity Letter’s Weekend Survival Guide lays out the schedule for conference football at both tiers and in all divisions.
We’ve got it all here, starting with the latest Big 5 rankings.
Of note to readers, Varsity Letters had intended on honouring both an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week this season, but with so many of the top performances each week encompassing both offensive and defensive contributions, we have elected to re-define things by simply honouring two players each week as our B.C. High School Football Players of the Week.
We’ll unveil those tomorrow and they will also be a part of the weekly BCSSFA Newsletter.
As well, please note that Varsity Letters, in its efforts to promote both university and high school football in B.C., will be focussing its efforts on the former for the one and only time this season.
As part of the team presenting the broadcast of the Saskatchewan at UBC Canada West football game Friday evening at Thunderbird Stadium, Varsity Letters will not be producing its Friday Night Lights edition of the B.C. High School Football Report.
This is a one-week, one-off situation, and we will resume the usual Friday night coverage the following Friday and for the rest of the season. High school coaches had been notified of this weekend over the summer and as late as this past Saturday.
All reports will be written up on Saturday morning, so all reports should still be filed by Friday night.
OK, we’ll start off with the new rankings.
