B.C. girls volleyball Top 10 rankings 11.08.19: Tweedsmuir’s Red Serge triumph carries Surrey’s Panthers to AAAA No. 1

LANGLEY — Led by the play of senior middle and tournament MVP Ellie Sinclair, Surrey’s Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers topped Surrey’s Pacific Academy Breaks 2-1 (27-25, 28-30, 15-12) to not only win the coveted Red Serge title last Saturday at PoCo’s Riverside Secondary, but also move into the No. 1 spot in the B.C. senior girls Quad-A volleyball rankings.

Former No. 1 Kelowna only dropped one spot, bouncing back from its 2-1 (25-16, 16-25, 15-4) semifinal loss to Lord Tweedsmuir in the Red Serge semifinals with a 2-1(25-15, 26-28, 16-14) win over North Vancouver’s No. 3-ranked Handsworth Royals in the bronze final.

Lord Tweedsmuir’s Alysha Goundrey, along with Lauren Attieh and Davida Hill of Pacific Academy, Sophie Lachapelle of Kelowna, Maddie Avotins of Handsworth and Emoni Bush of Campbell River’s Carihi comprised the Red Serge’s first all-star team.
