B.C. girls Sweet 16 Soccer! B.C. tourney draw revealed for May 29-31 championship in Surrey

SURREY — Cloverdale Athletic Park in Surrey will welcome the province’s best for a three-day run (May 29-31) beginning this coming Wednesday.

The defending B.C. champion Centennial Centaurs of Coquitlam headline the 16-team B.C. senior girls AAA soccer championships hosted by Surrey’s Fleetwood Park Secondary, invading the same park at which they won the Fraser Valley title last week.

Centennial is part of Pool A along with Victoria’s Oak Bay Breakers, Chilliwack’s Sardis Falcons and Ft. St. John’s North Peace Grizzlies.

On the same side of the championship draw, Richmond’s McMath’s Wildcats, the Handsworth Royals of North Vancouver, Tsawwassen’s South Delta Sun Devils and Victoria’s Claremont Spartans populate Pool B.

The other half of the draw:

Pool C is home to Surrey’s Panorama Ridge Thunder, Vancouver Island champ Nanaimo District Islanders, Vancouver’s Kitsilano Blue Demons, and Coquitlam’s Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils.

Pool C features North Vancouver’s Argyle Pipers, Surrey’s Fleetwood Park Dragons, the Okanagan champ Kelowna Owls and PoCo’s Riverside Rapids.

Wednesday’s entire schedule, as well as the first two rounds of action Thursday will comprise the tourney’s pool-play portion.

The winner of Pools A and B will play in one Thursday afternoon semifinal while the winners of Pools C and D meet in the other.

Before Friday’s 11:15 a.m. title tilt kicks off, seven placing games will have been played earlier in the morning to determine finishes 16th through third.

12:30 p.m.—Sardis vs.Centennial, North Peace vs. Oak Bay

12:30 p.m. — South Delta vs. McMath, Claremont vs. Handsworth

POOL C

10:45 a.m. —Nanaimo Dist. vs. Dr. Charles Best, Panorama Ridge vs. Kitsilano

2:15 p.m. — Kitsilano vs. Nanaimo District, Dr. Charles Best vs. Panorama Ridge

POOL D

10:45 a.m. — Argyle vs. Riverside, Fleetwood Park vs. Kelowna

2:15 p.m. — Kelowna vs. Argyle, Riverside vs. Fleetwood Park
