LANGLEY — Quarterfinal victories at the Red Serge Invitational spurred the most significant movement within the B.C. Quad-A Top 10 senior girls volleyball rankings.
And that movement came courtesy of two Kelowna schools.
The Kelowna Owls moved up two places to No. 4 with a 2-1 win in the quarters over East Vancouver’s dynamic, Double A No. 2-ranked Notre Dame Jugglers.
Meanwhile the Okanagan Mission Huskies went the full three sets before topping the Double-A No.1 Abbotsford Christian Knights. It was impetus behind a move from No. 7 to No. 5 for OKM.
The rankings, however, held form in the Red Serge’s semifinal matches at PoCo’s Riverside Secondary.
No. 1 South Delta topped OKM 2-1, while No. 2 Riverside also needed all three sets to get by Kelowna.
In the championship final, South Delta, led by eventual MVP Myah Cress, beat Riverside in as epic a two-straight match sweep as you’re apt to find this season.
The Sun Devils prevailed 30-28 in the first, then won 25-22 in the second.
We’ve got complete Red Serge championship round playoff results with full set scores below, as well as all-star selections and other award winners below.
