11.08.17: Hyacks’ Sammy Sidhu leads Varsity Letters’ B.C. High School Football Performances of the Week

Varsity Letters has scanned the numbers and presents our Top Performances of the Week in B.C. High School Football. 

Full disclosure: Big tackling numbers in the meaningful games in the month of November tend to score high.

1 SAMMY SIDHU — In a showdown with South Delta for the Western Confernece title on the final day of the regular season, New Westminster’s Sammy Sidhu helped carry his team to a 63-16 win by carrying nine times for 182 yards and two scores.

2 CAMERON MAH — In the annual Archbishops Cup against Vancouver College, the Notre Dame linebacker made 11 tackles as the Jugglers topped the Irish 28-7.

3 KINSALE PHILIP — New West’s quarterback is also a punishing member the No. 1 Hyacks’ linebacking core. Philip rushed for a 50-yard TD and also made 11.5 tackles plus two sacks, in a 63-16 win over South Delta.

4 JORDAN HOGG – The Abbotsford linebacker made 10 tackles, including four sacks, as the Panthers won the AA East with 21-0 win over Chilliwack’s G.W. Graham Grizzlies.

5 JONAH FINFRIDSSON — The St. Thomas More Knights’ safety registered 14 tackles and a forced fumble as the dominant Knights’ defence topped Mission 21-7.

6 KEELAN WHITE — The Handsworth receiver caught five passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a seven-yard major as the Royals beat West Vancouver 35-22 to win the Pacific Conference title.

7 JULIEN PERRI — Windsor’s TD machine caught four scoring majors and took an interception to the house in a 61-14 win over Ballenas.

8 JALEN PHILPOT — The Seaquam running back carried 17 times for 148 yards and two touchdowns, and also scored on an 85-yard interception return in a 35-28 loss to Mt. Douglas.

9 KALEN JULES — The Belmont quarterback threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns as the Bulldogs toppled Carson Graham 46-15.

10 STEEN RASMUSSEN — The John Barsby Bulldogs running back rushed for four touchdowns on the day as Nanaimo’s Bulldogs beat North Van’s Argyle Pipers 43-6.

HONOURABLE MENTION (in order)

CADEN DOYLE — The Clarence Fulton running back rushed four times for 128 yards and two touchdowns and added another off a 48-yard fumble recovery as the Maroons blanked Kamloops’ Westsyde 34-0.

HAYDEN NAYOR — The Mt. Douglas Rams’ receiver didn’t find his way into the end zone, but his seven catches for 138 yards helped set the table for his Victoria club’s late-season renaissance, as evidenced by a 35-28 comeback win over the Seaquam Seahawks.

CADE COTE — The Terry Fox Ravens scored touchdowns via the rush, catch, kick-off return and interception in a 75-6 win over Centennial. Cote rushed for 123 yards and caught a 42-yard TD pass.

MAREN BRADBROOKE — The Nanaimo District quarterback went 10-of-15 for 213 yards and two majors, and also carried 11 times for 115 yards and a 39-yard TD in the Islanders 36-14 non-conference win over Spectrum.
