01.24.18: No. 1 Bays widen 4A gulf, healthy Titans top 3A poll as all four tiers release B.C. Big 10 boys rankings

LANGLEY — Surrey’s Semiahmoo Totems climb to No. 2, likely the highest position in the history of its senior varsity boys basketball program, following an impressive win Saturday over crosstown rival Tamanawis Wildcats in the championship final of the Surrey RCMP tournament.

Yet No. 1 Oak Bay’s 38-point win over the Totems a week previous in the final of the Terry Fox Legal Beagle invite points out the dominance the Victoria school appears to have over the rest of the field as January enters its final weekend of play.

South Kamloops, with the returns of starters Ripley Martin and Evan Jumaga, climb to the top of the Triple A rankings this week.

Brentwood College, still arguably B.C.’s most complete team, remain at No. 1 in the Double A rankings, while Kelowna Christian makes the big jump to top spot in the Single A rankings.
