Vernon, Holy Cross, Bateman and PGSS the conference champs as draw for Subway Bowl AA football tourney unveiled

LANGLEY — The 12-team draw is now official for the 2018 Subway Bowl B.C. AA high school football championships which begin play Friday at Langley’s McLeod Stadium, then continue Saturday in Prince George and Vernon.

The Vernon Panthers, Surrey’s Holy Cross Crusaders, Abbotsford’s Robert Bateman Timberwolves and the Prince George Polars are the four conference champions.

Of that group, only the Crusaders have previously won a senior varsity Subway Bowl title.

Of note, the Northern Conference forfeited its first-round bye. As well, a coin flip held in 2017 between the East and West determined the East would get two opening-round byes that season, thus West gets two byes this seasons (Holy Cross and John Barsby).

Here’s a look at the draw, along with the final conference standings.
