KAMLOOPS — The Kelowna Owls are headed to the Subway Bowl’s B.C. AAA/AA Interior/Northern championship final next week.
Owls’ quarterback Joey Howorko went 14-of-24 for 211 yards and three touchdowns as part of a 37-8 win Saturday over the host South Kamloops Titans.
Receiver Jaeke Schlachter caught five passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns, including one he took 75 yards to the end zone. Schlachter also kicked a 42-yard field goal in the win.
Running back Jack Nyrose carried 14 times for 89 yards and a touchdown.
“I am so incredibly proud of how our boys finished today,” said Owls head coach Chris Cartwright. “It was a grind to get our groove going, but once we got it, things started to work out in our favour. Our defense played incredible and gave our offense time to work out some things and our offensive line had an outstanding day today.”

The Owls are ready to play Vernon in the championship finals next week, although details on the game’s date, time and location have not yet been announced.
“Vernon is a good program, they are the defending Double-A provincial champions,” added Cartwright, so we look forward to this opportunity. We are so incredibly grateful that we get another week to play high school football.”
