Coming this weekend to VL: It’s a Sunday Read chronicling the end of the Vancouver College Fighting Irish’ half-century-plus quest to re-capture the B.C. senior boys hoops title!

By Howard Tsumura (Varsity Letters)

LANGLEY TOWNSHIP — Hope you will check in with Varsity Letters this weekend for our special Sunday Read!

Of course, the topic at hand is the historic win by the Fighting Irish over Dover Bay in last Saturday’s B.C. senior boys Quad-A championship final.

We’ve spent the week talking with Irish players and coaches both past and present, as well delving into the archives with the help of B.C. high school boys historian Ken Winslade and Vancouver College historian Bruce Jagger.

Put that together with our incredible team of photographers on hand at the Langley Events Centre and we hope we will produce a story worthy of the occasion.

OK, back to it.

  1. Take all the time you need Howard. It will be worth the wait, of that we are certain! Just thankful you are still doing what you do, blessed really. To your point, Van College waited a long time to climb the mountain again so we can wait a few days to read all about it. Looking forward to the story, that’s what makes this tournament so special, the stories and the story tellers!
