B.C. High School Westling 2019: Finalists all set for Tuesday’s 29 boys, girls B.C. weight-class finals

LANGLEY — Following 10 hours of wrestling and 602 bouts on Monday, the finals are set to determine which wrestlers will be crowned provincial champions.

Day one is in the books at the B.C. Secondary Schools Wrestling Association provincial championships at Langley Events Centre and the field has been whittled down from the original 414 wrestlers who began the competition.

Twenty-nine champions will be determined Tuesday afternoon on the final day of the high school wrestling championships. The consolation matches to determine third place and beyond in the various categories will also be on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Female:

40 kg – Lakiesha Jacob (Lillooet) vs. Tanisha Johal (Burnaby Central)

43 kg – Round robin between Gina Bolognese (Burnaby North), Ayesha Mian (St. Thomas More Collegiate), Toni Medeiros (Notre Dame), Erna Armstrong (Burnaby Central) and Charmaine Stuart (Prince George) 

47 kg – Zena Shew (South Islands Distance Education School) vs. Marley Jackson (Burnaby Mountain)

51 kg – Ivy Threatful (Maple Ridge) vs. Kiana Shew (South Islands Distance Education)

54 kg – Marquesis Heintz (Maple Ridge) vs. Clara Scagione (St. Thomas More Collegiate)

57 kg – Victoria Seal (Mission) vs. Kaily Pattison (Kelly Road)

60 kg – Kenna Wells-Flanders (Guildford Park) vs. Mikaela Trolland (W.J. Mouat)
