B.C. Boys Top 10 basketball rankings 01.31.24 edition: Ready for March Madness? This week, 36 overall ranking slots change teams across four tiers of Top 10 polls! Parity runs rampant across the province!

LANGLEY — Absolute insanity.

That’s the only way to describe how extreme parity has brought a fragile state of affairs to all four tiers of the B.C. senior boys basketball Top 10 rankings.

How topsy-turvy did it get?

From last week’s total of 43 overall Top 10 rankings slots (3A, 2A and 1A each featured ties for the No. 10 overall spot), only seven spots held their ground this week.

For starters, every spot at Quad-A and Triple-A has changed from a week ago.

In addition, only two spots remained constant at 2A, while 1A had five spots remain the same.

The big scores that helped bring chaos to Quad-A?

Handsworth beat West Vancouver 83-75 in a Vancouver Sea-to-Sky league tilt on Jan. 23, while Vancouver College beat Handsworth 79-78 in its own Emerald Tournament semifinal.

Victoria’s Oak Bay Bays won the Emerald, beating the Irish 86-81 in the final.

On Tuesday, St. George’s beat Vancouver College 98-82 in league play.

In Triple-A, Lord Byng dropped from No. 1 after suffering a 76-62 loss to Dover Bay on the first day of the Emerald Tournament.
