LANGLEY — Welcome to a Varsity Letters first!
As part of our season-ending tribute to the student-athletes and coaches who make the B.C. high school sports world such a special fraternity, we started out with a simple idea: Publishing the photographs of every senior varsity team to win a B.C. high school championship over the course of the 2018-19 season.
After much tallying, and with the help of our friends at B.C. School Sports who administer 99 per cent of those B.C. championship tournaments, we arrived at 73 overall provincial team titles.
The slide show below is a random look at every winning team.
More importantly, we’ve also included, just below that, the same team photos, listed by season, ready to be scrolled through and enjoyed.
As you can see, the beauty of the championship team photo isn’t determined by how well-posed it is. In fact there’s a rag-tag look to some of them, with exhausted and exuberant kids celebrating some of the most special moments of their lives, that are the most endearing.
We’re so happy to present them to you today by their respective Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, confident that we’ve discovered yet another annual way to celebrate our greatest resource of all: B.C. high school student-athletes!
