01.29.25 edition: BC Boys Top 10 hoop ranks: What’s hotter than new Quad-A No. 1 Oak Bay and its star Toren Franklin who scored 42 in Emerald title tilt? And how about those No. 7 Heritage Woods Kodiaks!

LANGLEY — Toren Franklin scorched the goals to the tune of 42 points on Saturday in carrying Victoria’s Oak Bay Bays to 95-89 win over Nanaimo’s Dover Bay Dolphins in the championship final of the Vancouver College Emerald tournament.

The win lifted the Bays into the No. 1 spot in the B.C. senior boys high school Top 10 rankings for the first time this season.

Dover Bay, coming off an 82-79 win over previously undefeated, reigning B.C. champion Spectrum Thunder of Victoria during Friday’s Emerald Final 4, retain their No. 2 spot in B.C.’s largest-school tier, while Spectrum got 27 points from forward Tyler Felt and 26 from guard Justin Hinrichsen in a 90-78 third-place win over the host Fighting Irish, dropping to No. 3 in the process.

Vancouver College, which remained at No. 4, got 29 points in the loss to the Thunder from guard Andres Garcia.

Port Moody’s Heritage Woods Kodiaks made the week’s biggest climb from 4A unranked to No. 7 by beating then-No. 7 Tamanawis 83-57 and then-No. 8 Semiahmoo 79-60, over its final two games at the Emerald.

The three other tiers all saw no change at No. 1.
