Varsity Letters

LANGLEY — Today, Varsity Letters teams up with B.C. Basketball Metrics for a second straight season to present BCBBM’s analytical lookout the best senior boys basketball teams in the province.

As you will see below, the weekly package this season has expanded to include eight different sets of statistical packages. Perhaps more simply, we will be presenting, for each of the four tier classifications from Quad-A through Single A, the top 16 teams and the top teams for every qualifying zone in each of those tiers. The model relies on three different rating systems — RPI, SRS, and ELO — which are combined to generate a Combined Team Rating number. Perhaps, among other things, this look at the zones offers a bit of clarity on just which schools might be in the battle for the final wild-card berth available in each tier.

As stated on this website last season, we present these numbers as an additional resource to the traditional B.C. senior boys basketball weekly Top 10 rankings which Varsity Letters couldn’t support any more strongly.

It is our hope that as we move forward each season that our devoted provincial following gets the kind depth of coverage befitting the best boys high school basketball championship in the country. We hope this helps accomplish that goal. Our next set of B.C. senior boys Top 10 rankings will appear on Wednesday.

Once again, our thanks to B.C. Basketball Metrics and everyone who continues to support high school sports in the province of B.C.
