TRIPLE A: After 33 years, Vernon’s churnin’ Panthers return to a B.C. final! Says coach Reid “…there is a football factor there for sure.”

LANGLEY — Heading into tonight’s B.C. Triple A championship final, it’s fair to say that the North Delta Huskies have a J.D. Jackson-like presence in their line-up in the form of long-and-explosive senior guard Suraj Gahir.

That's the look of pure elation on the face of North Delta's Suraj Gahir after hitting his game-winning triple with just under three seconds remaining in the Huskies' 62-61 win over Duchess Park. LANGLEY — It was the shot his coach had told him not to take. But in the end, it was the shot for his teammates and for the generations of greying men who wondered whether the day was ever going to come again.

Vernon’s ‘Cats in the Cradle’ growing up fast! Young, talented Panthers take No. 2 rank into Bateman’s T-Wolves Classic

ABBOTSFORD — It’s happened precisely twice. That’s how many times over the first 73 years in which the B.C. senior boys basketball championships have been staged that a school won both senior varsity football and basketball championships in the same academic year.
